I learned in Vegas. Okay, not completely true but if there’s one tourist destination that knows how to sell it’s Vegas.

From upsells, downsells, and cross-sells, to the specifics of the environment such as lighting, Vegas is designed with one thing in mind – to get you to part with your money.

Do you really think it’s a coincidence that casinos don’t have clocks?

Plus, I love the ATM’s. Whereas our “normal” ATM’s give you fast cash options of $20, $40, or $60 (if you want more, you have to manually type in the amount), most in Vegas have options that START at $200 and go up and if you want less than $200 you have to manually type it in.

I was recently in Vegas for the PPC Classroom Live seminar and to meet up with my mastermind group.

Even department stores get in on the act, big time. Check out this cool two minute video.

Now, while thousands of you are emailing me for them, I will NOT be releasing the secret videos of Steve, Steven, Becki and Sheldon. Those are safely locked in the vault for when I need a really big favor.

If you’re like most of us in this internet marketing world, you do a lot of bouncing around from one thing to another, trying to find something that works.

While we’re busy bouncing around from one opportunity to the next, we’re paying for what we’ve missed.

This goes back to what I’ve mentioned previously with regard to focusing on a target to the exclusion of other things.

Every decision you make in your life has a cost, whether you see it or not. While you’re busy doing one thing, you’re missing out on something else.

And only you can decide how to allocate the limited time you have.

But in order to allocate it most effectively you have to realize what you’re missing out on and you have to value your time.

Most people who bounce around from one opportunity to the next ultimately get extremely frustrated because they haven’t made any progress on anything.

So they rationalize this lost time and money by convincing themselves that none of these things work.

Instead, you should focus on what might you have accomplished if you had selected one of those ideas, such as article marketing, and worked on that to the exclusion of all other noise.

Where would you be today?

Would you have made progress and moved forward?

Would you have a more profitable internet marketing business today?

How valuable is your time to you? $10 an hour? $20? $50? $100?

How much do you want it to be worth? $500? $1,000?

Are you spending your time doing the things that give you that kind of return? Or, at least, potentially that kind of return? Why not?

In the beginning, you’ll probably need to do everything, unless you are flush with cash for outsourcing purposes.

But “everything” should be part of one thing.

In other words, if you’re doing article marketing, you may need to learn html to create your own content site or squeeze page, set up an autoresponder, write the messages, write and submit the articles, etc.

But those are all part of article marketing, which is your one thing.

Eventually, you’ll be able to outsource a lot of that stuff.

Don’t be a jack of all trades. Be a master of one.

Pick something. Learn it. Become great at it.

If you want to start generating high quality one way backlinks, get top search engine rankings, and drive thousands of visitors to your site quickly, I highly recommend you sign up for the VRE Coaching Course

I don’t want to bash you over the head with too much hype but it’s truly more valuable than some courses you’d pay hundreds of dollars for.

Did I mention it was free?

The best way I know of to create and build a successful online business is to select a business model and then focus on making it a success.

I know, it sounds really simple, but it amazes me how few people actually follow through and do this.

Instead, they purchase every new internet marketing product that comes along, no matter if it fits into their current business model or not.

They may be working on building up their adsense income by writing articles to drive traffic to their little content site that has adsense ads.

Then they get bombarded by 57 different internet marketers touting the next great thing in internet marketing that they must BUY NOW before it’s too late!

So they buy it. It has nothing to do with their current online business model but they start working on it and abandon what they’ve been doing up to this point.

Then the pattern repeats itself. They spend money, start something new, abandon what they were doing, and soon start the process all over again by purchasing the next heavily promoted internet marketing product.

This cycle is in full swing as I write this.

Huge marketing campaigns are going on right now for some big, expensive products from Frank Kern’s Mass Control to the SMARTS program put on by StomperNet.

Regardless of how good these programs may be (and they could be great. I don’t know because I don’t have them), if they don’t fit into your business model you don’t need them. At least not right now.

Yes, there is a ton of stuff to buy, the sales letters make you want to buy, and you’re afraid of missing out. I get it.

But if you want to succeed with your internet marketing business, choose a business model and then focus on the fundamentals of what makes that model successful.

If you want to turn this internet marketing thing into a real long term and successful business, then you have to treat it like a business. And that means becoming a business person.

You need to learn the marketing fundamentals of your business model. Then you need to implement those marketing fundamentals consistently.

Here’s how I did it. After getting buried by offers and spending a lot of money and running over in a million different directions I decided to focus on one thing.

And that one thing was creating an authority content site in my niche.

I chose SBI for my hosting needs and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. SBI is a complete, all in one, internet success package.

I focused solely on what SBI taught me and I went to work creating my content site that now totals over 526 pages of original content, that generates over 1,000 unique visitors per day, and has top search engine rankings for very competitive keywords in my niche.

Then I expanded from there by focusing on aspects of internet marketing that were natural expansions of my business model.

I started a newsletter, I wrote two ebooks that I sell, I started writing and submitting articles to sites like EzineArticles.com and writing for big content sites in my niche, etc.

I also created a blog to compliment my original content site so I could take advantage of the new web 2.0 traffic generation sites.

You can learn more about creating a virtual real estate empire.

All of these things built upon what I originally started with SBI

If you want to succeed with your internet marketing business, you need to treat it like a business and focus on the fundamentals of what will make your business model a successful one.
